At the heart of the PSA O₂ Machine is Pressure Swing Adsorption technology, which separates oxygen from ambient air using adsorbent materials (typically zeolite molecular sieves) that preferentially adsorb nitrogen at high pressure. The process operates in a cyclic manner between two adsorption towers to provide a continuous output of oxygen gas:

1. Adsorption Phase: Compressed air is fed into one of the towers containing zeolite molecular sieve. The sieve adsorbs nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and moisture from the air, allowing oxygen to pass through to the product tank. This produces a stream of oxygen gas with purity typically ranging from 90% to 95% (medical grade oxygen is 93% ±3%).
2. Regeneration Phase: Once the adsorbent in the first tower becomes saturated with nitrogen, the process switches to the second tower (which is now in adsorption mode). The first tower is depressurized to atmospheric pressure, causing the adsorbed nitrogen (and other impurities) to be released as waste gas. This "swing" in pressure regenerates the molecular sieve, preparing it for the next cycle.

By alternating between the two towers, the PSA O2 Machine maintains a continuous flow of oxygen. The entire cycle (adsorption + regeneration) is automated and typically lasts only a few minutes, ensuring rapid response to demand changes. The result is a steady supply of oxygen gas that can be delivered at the required pressure for immediate use in your processes.
