For the nitrogen liquefier developed by TIPC, CAS-designed to liquefy nitrogen to -180ºC-a low-temperature mixed-refrigerant Joule-Thomson (MRJT) refrigerator is employed. This refrigerator is driven by a single compressor and incorporates a precooling system.
The MRJT refrigerator operates on the Joule-Thomson cycle, leveraging multicomponent mixed refrigerants. Its core design principle involves optimizing refrigerants with different boiling points: by selecting and blending these refrigerants, their respective efficient refrigeration temperature ranges are well-matched, enabling effective "reoccupation" of the target temperature spectrum. This configuration makes the MRJT refrigerator highly efficient for the temperature range of -40 to -196ºC.
Features of this product are as follows:
- Utilizes mature, commercially available compressors and heat exchangers;
- High liquefaction efficiency;
- High reliability;
- Maintenance-free operation;
- Long service life.

Classification by Liquid Nitrogen Purity
Liquid nitrogen is typically classified into food-grade and industrial-grade based on its purity.
- Food-grade liquid nitrogen has high purity, with a specification of 99.999% (often referred to as "5 nines") to ensure safety for human consumption.
- Industrial-grade liquid nitrogen has a lower purity compared to the food-grade variant.
Safety Considerations
While liquid nitrogen is sometimes perceived as having safety risks, its low temperature causes it to vaporize rapidly upon contact with air, which inherently ensures a certain level of safety. However, proper safety precautions must still be taken, and safety awareness should be maintained at all times.
Performance Requirements
- Liquid nitrogen production capacity: 1-50 L/h
- Storage capacity: 120 L
- Operating environment temperature: 10 ºC - 38 ºC
- Control system: PLC touch screen
- Power supply: 200 V - 400 V, 3-phase, 50/60 Hz
Product Applications
In industrial production, liquid nitrogen-obtained via compressed liquid air fractionation-serves as a deep cryogen. A key advantage of liquid nitrogen is its chemical inertness: it can contact biological tissues directly, inducing immediate freezing without damaging biological activity, which further supports its utility as a deep cryogen. Its main applications are as follows:
- Food Industry: Rapidly freezing and transporting food products, or manufacturing ice-based items.
- Scientific Research: Enabling research in low-temperature physics.
- Science Education: Demonstrating low-temperature states. For instance, soft objects soaked in liquid nitrogen at room temperature become as brittle as glass.
- Superconductivity Field: Providing the low temperature required for high-temperature superconductors to exhibit superconductivity.
- Biological Preservation: Acting as a cryogen to rapidly freeze biological tissues, preventing tissue damage.
- Agrichemical Production: Supporting the manufacturing of industrial nitrogenous fertilizers.
- Chemical Industry: Facilitating chemical analysis and detection processes.
